Bishop Kitohi Pikaahu - The Gospel Comes to Aotearoa

23 February 2014

The Right Reverend Kitohi Pikaahu is the Bishop of Te Piihopatanga o Te Tai Tokerau. This Pihopatanga is a diocese of the Anglican Church in Aotearoa, New Zealand and Polynesia, that covers the area from South Auckland's Bombay Hills to Te Rerenga Wairua (the North Cape).

Bishop Pikaahu is involved with the planning of this year's celebrations to mark the Bicentenary of the first Gospel message preached in Aotearoa by Rev Samuel Marsden.

He speaks to Mānia Clarke about the historical significance of that event, how the early missionaries came to Northland's Hohi Bay, and the role those missionaries played in the formation of the Treaty of Waitangi.
